Her birthplace was Roswell on the 29th of March 1985. Gerina Michelle Mendoza is her birth name. Gerina Stevenson was born to Mexican parents Rita Stevenson (mother) and Alan Stevenson (father). She is American and has Mexican-American heritage. From the time she was a kid, she has had a strong desire to participate in activities. Gerina began playing golf at the age of 15 years old. Gerina finished her High School studies in Goddard High School. In high school, she won her first prize in the New Mexico state golf tournament. A volleyball player, she was also a participant in state tournaments. She was a student at in the University of Texas in 2003. In her final year, she won every tournament she competed in. While in her undergrad years, she was awarded Conference USA's individual player of year, as well as UTEP's Female Athletic Champion of the Year.
